ISWAN held the sixth International Seafarers' Welfare Awards on June 24th 2016 at the Manila Hotel in Manila, The Philippines. 2016's awards together with the awards held between 2010 and 2015 were a great success, gaining a great deal of media coverage and helping to raise the profile of seafarers' welfare in the maritime industry. Each year, the awards attract widespread interest from welfare organisations, shipping companies, and ports with a steady increase in the number of candidates entering the awards over the years.
These global awards recognise excellence in seafarers' welfare across a range of categories: Shipping Companies, Ports and Seafarer Centres are all nominated by seafarers who feel they have experienced excellent welfare provisions as employees or visitors. The awards raise the profile of seafarers' welfare internationally within the maritime industry, particularly among shipping companies and ports. An important aim of the awards is to ensure that more companies and organisations engage in the process of improving seafarers' welfare and their lives.
More information about 2017's Awards will be released soon. Sponsorship information is available now.
Sponsorship of the awards provides an opportunity for companies and other organisations to demonstrate their commitment to the welfare of seafarers.
